A beginners guide to using acrylic paints this was one of my early pictures to practice and have fun.
If you would like to learn how to use acrylic paints why not start with a simple pattern and basic colours.
On a plain piece of thick paper tape thin masking tape into a line pattern of random shapes. I find this helps to keep the paper in place and makes it easier to paint.
With acrylic paint add little paint onto the paper for each shaped area.
Fill in each section with various colours and spread the pain over each section with a clean brush.
Leave to dry and then you can remove the masking tape. Tip: I accidentally used the double sided tape instead of masking tape so had difficulty removing (lesson learned)
Optional to draw around the shapes with a thick black pen.
I like to use sharpie pens and a ruler but any marker will do.
This was a brilliant way to practice using acrylic paints and to get a feel for them.
The final picture gave me an enjoyable time I found it relaxing and therapeutic why not have a go do your own thing.
